Biography
Barnie is a visiting PhD candidate from University of Greenwich, and a Seminar Leader (GTA) at King's War Studies Department, in the subject History of the International System. His current research examines the application of merit in the English Navy officer corps during the Interregnum (1649-1660).
After a career in technology in the reinsurance sector, he graduated with a Masters in Military History and Strategic Studies from Reading in 2015, studying under Colin Gray (for his BA), and Beatrice Heuser. His Masters thesis focused on Cyber Warfare Strategy.
Doctoral Research
The application of meritocracy in the Interregnum Navy officer corps was significant and impacted the long term culture of the service.
