
Dr Ben Pope
Biography
Ben Pope is a member of the Workforce Panel of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health & Social Care Workforce, King's College London.
Dr Ben Pope has been a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Nottingham University Hospitals, a leading tertiary referral and major trauma centre since 2012. With extensive experience in managing diverse clinical teams, Ben has played a key role in integrating alternative workforce models, including senior Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) and paramedics, to enhance patient care and efficiency. The department has connections with community-based health promotion teams and has been involved in national strategies such as NHS England’s blood borne virus screening project. The department is currently featured in channel 4’s ‘24 hours in A&E’ television programme.
Passionate about innovative solutions in emergency medicine, Ben brings valuable insights into workforce development and multidisciplinary collaboration both within hospitals and the wider community. In the past two years the department has extended its reach into recruitment from both NHS and non-NHS international organisations, resulting in a cumulative £3m saving in locum workforce costs.
