Biography

Bettina is a Senior research and policy officer with the 'Healthier working lives for the care workforce' research project. Bettina has a strong interest in ethnographic and qualitative approaches to conducting social science research. She is motivated to address systemic issues in social care to better accommodate an ageing workforce.

Having actively contributed to the data collection and fieldwork in the first phase of the research programme, Bettina is currently conducting an ethnographic data analysis that will feature in upcoming publications, supporting a regional IMPACT coordinator network through my involvement in Scottish Care, and conducting interviews with relevant policymakers in the social care arena.

Bettina’s ambitions are to use the power of social science research to gain insights into the daily realities and challenges experienced by an under-researched demographic group in social care, whose knowledge and experiences are of great value to the sector as a whole and can further be used to inform decision and policymaking.
