
Dr Catherine Kibirige

Biography
Dr Catherine Kibirige joined King’s College London in June 2025 as a part-time Study Coordinator in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). She supports the coordination of clinical trials investigating home-based transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for depression, including the NIHR HTA-funded HOME Trial, NIHR EME-funded BDEP Trial, and upcoming Trial funded by the Rostrees Trust led by Professor Cynthia Fu.
Dr Kibirige holds a BSc from the University of Bath and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.Her research and leadership experience spans the UK, US, and Africa, with a focus on infectious diseases, diagnostics, and global health. Dr Kibirige has held roles in research management, grant development, and innovation strategy, and has worked closely with technology transfer offices on patent filings and commercialisation initiatives.
In addition to her role at King’s, she is an IP Strategy Officer at Imperial College London. She has also contributed to teaching, mentoring, and public engagement, and has served on advisory and grant review panels.
