Biography
I manage the King’s Health Partners Cancer Biobank, which has a long history of supplying samples and data for translational research. The Biobank collects, processes, stores and distributes various sample types from patients who attend Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals with a diagnosis or possible diagnosis of cancer. I have continued to update and modify the Biobank and its associated NHS research ethics favorable opinion to reflect research trends against a background of changing clinical practices.
I have sought funding and manage a team of 16 full-time biobank and translational laboratory staff, who provide support to projects and clinical trials. I am also the lead Human Tissue Authority Designated Individual (DI) and named licence holder for King’s College London, with responsibility for 6 other DIs and sectors. I am the only DI for research at Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Trust.
