Dr Chi Yan Leung obtained his MD degree and trained as a Specialty Registrar in Radiology in Taiwan. He subsequently completed a Master of Health Science (MHS) and a PhD in Health Science at The University of Tokyo, where he was awarded The University of Tokyo Fellowship.

Before joining the Cicely Saunders Institute, he was a Research Fellow at the National Cancer Center Japan. He conducted research using data from the Japan National Cancer Registry, the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study, and the Asia Cohort Consortium.

His research focuses on data-driven translational science, with particular interests in epidemiology, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, health policy evaluation, and health decision modelling.
