Biography
Christina is a PhD Fellow within the Diabetes Team, Division of Care in Long Term Conditions in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care.
Christina has been working as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse at Wye Valley NHS Trust since 2013.Christina completed an MSc degree in Advancing Practice at University of Worcester in 2016. Her dissertation was titled: Exploration of diabetes knowledge and training preferences amongst registered nurses working in an NHS Trust.
Christina was awarded a Doctoral Fellowship from the Foundation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND) and joined King's College as a PhD fellow in September 2021.
For her PhD topic, Christina is exploring the topic of hospital insulin safety, particularly focused on the experiences of older/frail adults with diabetes.
Christina aims to co-design with older/frail adults with diabetes and experience of a surgical hospital admission and NHS staff looking after them, the theoretical model of an intervention to improve insulin safety for people with diabetes in hospital and reduce hospital insulin errors: the SHINE study.
