Consultant Medical Oncologist

Biography

Dr Debra Josephs is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in prostate cancer, experimental cancer medicine and cellular therapies.

She achieved a first-class intercalated BSc as part of her medical training at the University of Edinburgh.

Following completion of core training in internal medicine, she undertook specialist training in Medical Oncology at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

In 2009, Cancer Research UK awarded Dr Josephs a clinical research fellowship, enabling her to complete a PhD in translational cancer immunology at King's College London in 2013. This led to her being offered an Academic Clinical Lectureship at Guy's and St. Thomas' and King's College London, where she conducted clinical and translational research.

She has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Sylvia Lawler Oncology Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine and the McElwain Prize in Medical Oncology from the Association of Cancer Physicians.

In 2017, Dr Josephs was appointed as a Consultant in Medical Oncology at Guy's and St. Thomas', where she serves as Joint Lead Clinician for Prostate Cancer.

In 2022, Dr Josephs also specialised in early phase drug development within the Guy’s Cancer Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit, and was appointed Cell Therapy Clinical Lead for the Trust.

She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London, where she continues to supervise PhD students.
