Professor of Leadership Practice

Biography

Declan Woods is a Professor of Leadership Practice at King's Business School, designing and delivering innovative executive development programmes for c-suite clients.

Outside of King's, he is CEO of teamGenie, a specialist global team coaching company, that helps teams 'release their magic' and work as a top team and CEO coach. He combines his experience as a former Plc executive and recent non-executive Director, with deep psychological know-how and advanced coaching skills to help leaders and their teams work better together through improving their communication, connectivity and collaboration. Declan is the creator of the teamSalient team discovery tool.

Declan is a Chartered and HCPC-Registered Psychologist, accredited Master Coach, and trained team coach. He earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Cambridge, an Executive MBA from Warwick University and an Executive MA in change consulting from INSEAD. Declan researched dysfunction in leadership teams for his doctorate at Leicester University. He holds fellowships of the CIPD (Chartered FCIPD), Association for Coaching (FAC) and British Psychological Society (AFBPsS).

Previously, Declan had a 20-year career spanning Plc P&L leadership roles, in-house line roles in corporate performance and strategy, senior roles in leadership development and OD, and global practice lead management consulting roles. He was decorated for my leadership in the New Year's Honour’s List following an earlier career as an Army Officer.
