Biography
Dee joined the Cicely Saunders Institute in September 2025. She is currently a research assistant supporting a number of Kentown projects which focus on exploring priorities for improving social care for children with life limiting conditions and their families, and the Economic Evaluation of the Kentown Support Service for children with life-limiting conditions in Greater Manchester.
Dee is a chartered psychologist and completed her Psychology in Education PhD at the University of York in 2022. Her PhD focused on ensuring that children’s voices are heard in debates about the relevance of genetic research to education and exploring the psychological impact of labelling, including genetic labelling. Dee has completed a number of research associate roles which intersect education and health sciences. The roles have predominantly been working with children and families in seldom heard, often marginalized groups, to explore their lived experiences of inclusion and in longitudinal qualitative research. Dee’s background is in primary school teaching; she has previously worked as an Assistant Head for Early Years, a SENDCo and a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
