Biography

Dr Grant Lewison is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences, specialising in bibliometrics and onomastics (the study of the origins of names).

After a career in the Department of Trade and Industry, latterly concerned with science policy and research evaluation, he joined the Wellcome Trust in 1993. He set up and ran the Research Outputs Database, a "club" of UK biomedical research sponsors, who were thereby enabled to obtain lists of the papers that they had funded.

He worked on bibliometrics at The City University (London), then at UCL, and joined King's in 2014 to map European medical research on an EU contract.
