Biography

Elaine has over 35 years of experience in large financial institutions and played a leadership role in some of the most complex transformations in the industry.

She was formerly Chief Human Resources Officer at HSBC, Europe’s largest banking group, with 220,000 people across 60 countries and a strong presence in the UK, Hong Kong and across Asia. Elaine was a member of the Global Executive team, leading on culture transformation, remuneration, workforce engagement, talent, succession and people risk.

Prior to HSBC, Elaine was Group HR Director at RBS between 2010 and 2017 and part of the management team set up to stabilise, restructure and rebuild the Bank after the financial crisis.

Elaine is an Adviser with Bain & Co, a Board Adviser to Julius Baer, and an adviser to two fast-growing IT firms. She is a mentor for senior business and HR leaders with J&A Mentoring Partners.

Elaine has a BSc degree from Strathclyde University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.
