Emmanuel Akpan-Inwang BEM is the Director of Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust (LPT), a pioneering charity focused on providing high-quality children’s homes and care for children in the UK care system. LPT also delivers qualifications, training, and leadership development for people who work in the sector.

Before founding Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust, Emmanuel was a participant on the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and taught English in a school in Birmingham. His experience there inspired him to explore new ways of improving the experiences and lifetime outcomes of children in care.

Emmanuel’s innovative approach is grounded in the Danish model of "social pedagogy," which integrates care and education in a holistic way. Under his leadership, Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust opened its first children’s home in February 2022, offering a stable, nurturing environment where children receive highly personalised support.

Emmanuel is also a 2019 Churchill Fellow and a 2024 Acumen Fellow.
