Visiting Professor Erol Gelenbe, PhD (New York University), DSc (Sorbonne Université), FIEEE FACM FRSS FIET FAAIA FRSA, is a Professor in the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His research is supported by EU Horizon and Marie Curie grants. He has graduated over 90 PhDs and won many grants from EPSRC, UKRI, EU, MoD (UK), and DARPA, NSF, ARO, ONR in the USA. Elected to Academia Europaea and current Chair of its Informatics Section, a Fellow of the French National Academy of Technologies and the Turkish Science Academy, he is a Foreign Fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters of Belgium, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Science Academy, and Hon. Fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic World. He received Honorary Doctorates (Honoris Causa) from the University of Roma II (Italy), the University of Liège (Belgium), Bogaziçi University (Istanbul), and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. France awarded him the honours of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, Commandeur de l’Ordre National du Mérite and Chevalier des Palmes Académiques. Belgium awarded him Commandeur de l’Ordre de la Couronne. Italy awarded him Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito and Grande Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia, and Poland awarded him Officer of the Order of Merit of Poland. |
