Biography

As the Volunteering Engagement Officer within the Service Team, Esther supports the establishment of a new coordinated approach to volunteering at King’s, contributing directly to increasing our social impact as a university and delivering our Service Strategy.

Esther's role involves engaging with multiple stakeholders across the King’s community, generating mutually beneficial volunteering opportunities, and celebrating volunteering experiences through marketing and events. She is responsible for developing key milestones and policies, removing barriers to Service Time and creating a Student Advisory Group for the new volunteering service.

Esther joined King’s College London in 2018 as the Community Engagement Manager at Science Gallery London, leading on the Youth-led Programming strategy to widen participation in the arts and sciences. This involved the Young Leader Programme (a training and development programme for 15-25 year olds), and local partnerships and participation projects with community groups. Her role is part-time, working freelance as a cycle instructor and educator for various community groups.

Esther has a BSc (INT) in Biology and The History of Philosophy of Science from the University of Leeds. Her experience in the arts, science education, festivals, museums and heritage includes roles with the Science Museum, V&A and Museum of London. She was part of the SMASHfestUK team winning the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community Award' with Times Higher Education in 2018.
