Biography

Dr Evangelos Christou is a Clinical Research Fellow at King’s College London and an Honorary Clinical Fellow at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Christou studied Medicine at the University of Ioannina, Greece. He was admitted first in rank via the national Greek entrance examination and graduated top of his class.

During Medical School, he obtained several competitive awards and scholarships and completed clinical and research electives at prestigious institutions, including Johns Hopkins Medical School in the USA, Great Ormond Street Hospital and St John’s Institute of Dermatology.

He completed his Internal Medicine Training (IMT) at University Hospital of Southampton and presently holds a dermatology training number at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee.

He currently holds a competitive British Skin Foundation (BSF) Research Fellowship to study adolescent alopecia areata at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and has been a cohort 2 Health Education England Topol Digital Fellow at the same institution.

His research interests focus on the genetics and immunology of hair disorders, the psychosocial impact of skin diseases and photobiology. His work has been published in leading dermatology journals.

He is a sub-investigator on alopecia areata trials and the global Alopecia+us study. He regularly presents at national and international conferences and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, having completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (Simulation) from the University of Dundee.
