Biography

Dr Dr Eyup Ersoy is a lecturer in Defence Studies Department. Previously, he was a teaching fellow in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Birmingham. Dr Ersoy held a visiting research fellowship in the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London and a visiting fellowship in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics. Dr Ersoy is fluent in Arabic, French, Persian, and Turkish. 

Dr Ersoy teaches on international security and strategy. He has taught the following modules in Defence Studies Department :

  • Security Structures and Processes
  • Introduction to Strategy
  • Intelligence, Espionage and Surveillance
  • Understanding Deterrence in Theory and Practice
  • Sea Power and National Strategy in Britain

  • The use of force in international security
  • Faith and religion in international affairs
  • Middle Eastern geopolitics

Dr Ersoy is currently involved in two different edited book projects. The first one is entitled 'Contemporary Bahrain: Political Transition, Identity Contestation, and Strategic Survival' and the second one is entitled 'The Kingdom's God: The Use and Abuse of Religion in Foreign Policy'.
