Biography
Dr Faith Borgan has held academic roles at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) since 2012 and has expertise in mental health, neuroscience, clinical trials, and the clinical development of novel therapeutics for mental health.
After graduating with Distinction Honours with a Psychology BSc and a Mental Health Studies MSc, Faith completed a PhD in Neuroscience, investigating the neurobiology of cognitive deficits in psychosis using fMRI and PET. Her doctoral research was published in JAMA Psychiatry and received awards from Wellcome, EPSRC and BAP.
Since 2012, Faith has led numerous clinical trials across academia and industry, aiming to advance the understanding and treatment of psychosis, depression and anxiety.
Following a two-year post-doctoral role at the IoPPN leading clinical trials in psychosis and depression, Faith joined Compass Pathways, where she contributed to a successful IPO, raising £310 million to investigate the efficacy of novel therapeutics for depression. Faith designed and led a £30 million portfolio of early and late phase clinical trials, working closely with regulators, payers, clinicians and lived experience experts to co-design the clinical trials.
Faith is passionate about developing novel interventions for mental health that address the needs and priorities of individuals with lived experience. Faith is currently co-designing a clinical trial at the IoPPN alongside individuals with lived experience to test the efficacy of a novel digital health intervention for anxiety in cancer survivors.
