
Dr Faiza Benaouda
Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Dermatology
Biography
Dr Faiza Benaouda is a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Dermatology at the Centre of Pharmaceutical Medicine Research (CPMR), King’s College London (KCL). She is the module lead for the Clinical Trial Management Module within the Drug Development Science MSc programme. She is also a registered pharmacist at the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Dr Benaouda started her research career by completing a PhD in Skin Drug Delivery at KCL after which she was awarded the prestigious CW Maplethorpe Research and Teaching Postdoctoral Fellowship from The University of London (2011-2013). Her research develops novel non-invasive approaches to enhance the permeability of the skin for the administration of microbiome-based therapies, biologics and advanced therapies.
She also is interested in biomarker extraction from the skin for diagnostic purposes. She has a particular interest in skin ageing, and the roles of cellular and immune senescence. Recently, her work has expanded to explore how the skin microbiome changes during healthy ageing and in disease conditions.
