Biography

Fiona Hackett is Patient and Public Coordinator, King’s Improvement Science, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, at King's College London.

With a diverse background encompassing roles as a mental health professional, community development worker, and expert by experience, Fiona brings a rich, intersectional perspective to participatory action research.

Initially earning a BSc in Sports Therapy from the University of Birmingham, Fiona later transitioned to mental healthcare in the NHS. Her career began in inpatient mental health services where she worked within the lived experience directorate, before working as a Care Navigator in community mental health services.

In 2024, Fiona gained a postgraduate certification in Low-Intensity CBT for Severe Mental Health Problems at UCL, equipping her to provide therapeutic support for individuals with schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. Additionally, Fiona has experience in NHS dementia services and in delivering psychological support to victims of stalking.
