Fiona Marshall is Research Fellow at the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Unit in the Policy Institute at King's.

Fiona works with Dr Liz Such and team on the NIHR KNOW-PH study which aims to examine ways of mobilising research-based evidence with public health professionals. More information can be found on the NIHR KNOW-PH website.

Fiona has worked at the University of Nottingham as a qualitative researcher since 2007, prior to this working in the NHS as a Health Visitor for Homeless Families and Older People. Fiona secured a fully funded competitive scholarship to study at doctoral level following teacher training at the University of Nottingham. Since completing the doctorate, Fiona has mostly worked on NIHR and charitable funded studies including ones about dying in ED, dementia care in acute surgical settings, effective hospital discharges, rural dementia care, patient journeys with acquired brain injury, intensive care experiences, transitions to care homes and pandemic research.

Broadly, Fiona's work has been about the ways in which organisations work together across boundaries of practice and how systems impact on service delivery with users and providers. Understanding the expectations and experiences of users and providers is important to enable shared understandings and support robust policy and practice.
