Biography

Francis Wilson is Director of Post-Award at King’s College London, leading the university's Post-Award function in the Research Grants & Contracts Division within the Research Management & Innovation Directorate. He is responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of post-award services, supporting the financial management, compliance, reporting, and overall performance of King’s portfolio of externally funded research grants and contracts.

Francis has worked in research management at King’s since 2008, with extensive experience across the post-award lifecycle. He has led teams responsible for UK and international research funding, studentships, and consultancy activity.

Francis previously served as Interim Director of Financially Sustainable Research at King's, working across Faculties and Professional Services to lead the university’s research sustainability agenda. This included a focus on financial sustainability, cost recovery, spend performance, and the use of data and insight to support decision-making and strategy.

Francis began his career at Cancer Research UK in the finance team before joining King’s. He holds an MA in International Relations and completed the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting (CIMA Dip MA) in 2019.

Francis is also a member of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) Mentoring Working Group.
