Dr Friedrich Baark

Biography

Friedrich completed a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Hull before going on to study for an MSc in Molecular Medicine at Imperial College London. Friedrich completed his PhD at King’s College London in Molecular Imaging under the supervision of Dr Richard Southworth and Dr James Clark investigating novel nuclear imaging approaches to detect evolving heart failure. Friedrich stayed at King’s College London to complete his first postdoctoral position investigating anthracycline cardiotoxicity. Friedrich joined the University of Oxford/King’s College London redOx⇌KCL programme as a work package 3 postdoctoral researcher in January 2020.

His research interests focus on hypoxia and its effects on cardiac physiology and the tumour microenvironment, as well as novel nuclear imaging approaches to detect evolving heart failure.
