Biography

Gaia Nebbia trained in Virology and Infectious Diseases at the Royal Free and University College Hospitals, where she also completed her PhD in Virology in 2008. Following this, she undertook further training and postdoctoral research as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer, specializing in viral immunology. In 2015, Gaia was appointed as a Consultant in Virology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. In 2020, she was awarded an MRC Clinical Academic Partnership grant, enabling her to advance her research in pathogen sequencing and its application in diagnostics, outbreak investigation, antimicrobial resistance, and viral evolution. She is R&D Lead for Infection and actively involved in clinical trials. Based in School of Immunology& Microbial Sciences Department of Infection.
