Dr Georgios Giannakopoulos

Biography

Georgios is a Visiting Research Fellow with the Centre for Hellenic Studies.

Georgios holds a PhD in Modern History from Queen Mary, University of London. He has held teaching and research positions at Queen Mary University of London, UCL, City University of London, Durham University, New York University, the University of the Peloponnese and the Hellenic Open University. He is currently an Academy of Athens postdoctoral fellow. His research focuses on the history and politics of Britain and Southeastern Europe since the late nineteenth century. His research articles have appeared, among others, in the History of European Ideas, and the Journal of Modern Greek Studies. His is currently working on a book project on the history of interventions in Modern Greece since the Crimean War. The book is under contract with Bloomsbury Academic.
