Biography
Giulia D'Aquila is a PhD Candidate in Chinese Studies at King's College Lau China Institute. Her current research focuses on the role that Chinese contemporary films play in the international relations between the UK and China. In 2021 she was selected for the Future Talent Programme by the UK-China Film Collab, and carried out film-related activities and preparatory research as part of her project.
In November 2020 she graduated with a Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, where she studied for a 2-year Master's Degree in Chinese Studies, with a focus on Chinese cinema. Before that, she obtained a First Class Bachelor's Degree from the University of Palermo, Italy. In 2019, she was awarded a One Semester Study Scholarship by the Confucius Institute of Scotland, and spent six months studying at Fudan University, Shanghai. Moreover, in 2017 she spent one semester studying at KU Leuven University, in Belgium.
