Biography

Giulia joined KCL in June, 2024. She will be examining environmental determinants of mental health outcomes in urban communities, with a particular focus on extreme heat events.

She previously worked at Queen Mary University of London as an epidemiologist and statistician on COVIDENCE UK, a national cohort study launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her focus was on breakthrough infections and long-term outcomes of acute respiratory infections, forming the basis of her PhD in Epidemiology.

Her academic journey began at KCL, with a BA in Mathematics & Philosophy, followed by a Laurea Magistrale in Mathematics from La Sapienza, University of Rome. Before moving into research, she worked as an editor at The Lancet, during which she completed an MSc in Applied Statistics at Birkbeck, University of London.
