Biography
Gizem holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in Italian Language and Literature from Istanbul University and the other in English Language and English Language Teaching from the University of Greenwich. Additionally, Gizem has earned the Cambridge CELTA qualification. Currently, she is in the process of writing her dissertation for a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at University of Greenwich.
Gizem has worked at various institutions in London for thirteen years, including Kaplan International Pathways College, where she taught Research Methods and English for Academic Purposes, and Oxford International Education Management, where she taught ESL and IELTS. She has extensive experience teaching EAP, Academic Skills, Research Methods, ESL and IELTS preparation classes to students ranging from foundation to postgraduate levels. In these roles, she has particularly enjoyed designing subject-specific EAP lessons, helping students shape their dissertations in research classes and tailoring content to meet the academic needs of diverse student groups.
She is currently researching language anxiety in multinational English classes and has a particular interest in digital learning and the use of AI in the classroom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and exploring new places through travel.
