Biography
Gladson Vaghela is a Research Assistant at the UKRI Population Health Improvement (PHI-UK) Population Mental Health Consortium, under the supervision of Professor Jayati Das-Munshi. His work centres on psychiatric epidemiology, global mental health, and the upstream determinants of mental disorders.
Before joining the Consortium, he read for an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology at the University of Oxford. His master’s thesis examined the diagnostic validity of a depression screening instrument and investigated risk factors for common mental disorders among a rural population within an Indian cohort study.
Prior to this, he obtained his medical degree (MBBS) in India and subsequently worked as a Junior Resident Doctor in Psychiatry, gaining clinical experience in the assessment and management of severe mental illness across inpatient and outpatient settings.
