Biography
Dr Gülüm Özer is a Lecturer in Psychological Medicine (Organisational Psychiatry & Psychology) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London. She specialises in organisational psychology with a focus on workplace bullying perpetration, mental health, and employee wellbeing—bridging rigorous research with real-world organisational practice.
Her work includes longitudinal, daily-diary and qualitative studies on bullying and health, a systematic review on antecedents and mechanisms of perpetration, and applied pieces that inform prevention and intervention. Her publications appear in outlets such as Aggression and Violent Behavior and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health; she has also served as guest editor for a special issue on preventing and addressing negative workplace behaviours.
Her career spans senior finance and administration leadership in international companies—including roles as Head of Finance/HR/Administration at international organisations— experience that strengthens her practice-oriented teaching and research translation.
Gülüm received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award (University of Barcelona) and multiple King’s Education Award nominations (shortlisted for Student Support); recent funding includes a King’s Academy education-research grant supporting her work on authentic assessment and employability.
She is a member of IAWBH and EAWOP, among other professional bodies; holds an MBA (Oxford Brookes), an MSc in Organisational Psychology (Istanbul Bilgi University), CMA certification, and a BA in Economics (Boğaziçi University). She is fluent in Turkish and English and also lectures part-time at Istanbul Bilgi University (Module Lead: Global Trends in Organisational Psychology).
