Biography

Henriques is a Physician with extensive experience working with International Organizations, Academic Institutions and Health facilities researching, implementing and facilitating the delivery of effective and sustainable health services to populations in need. In Parallel, he has practised as a Clinician in the fields of Infectious diseases, Intensive Care & Emergency Medicine and General Surgery.

His academic background includes a medical degree, and further postgraduate qualifications in International Health & Tropical Medicine, Infectious diseases and Global Health. He focuses on quantitative methods and his current research interests are in the emerging field of Global Surgery and include the provision of high-quality surgical procedures and rehabilitation to vulnerable populations in resource-constrained and humanitarian settings.

As a Teaching fellow in the School of Life Course and Population Sciences, his main focus is contributing to future leaders’ education and professional development in Healthcare and allied Sciences. Henriques also enjoys journalling, learning new skills, going on new adventures and being regular in the gym. On a personal level, he is deeply committed to the improvement of others’ well-being, and takes an interest in various issues of social justice, equality and human rights.
