Biography
Dr. Ho Wan (Howard) Chan is a Maplethorpe Research and Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, King's College London. He obtained his BPharm degree (with First Class Honours) from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2020 and registered as a pharmacist in Hong Kong in 2021.
Subsequently, he returned to the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, HKU to pursue his PhD studies under the primary supervision of Dr. Shing Fung (Aviva) Chow, on the development of nanoagglomerate dry powder formulations for inhalation, with the support from the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme and the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship.
He has received several accolades during his PhD studies, including the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship for Postgraduate Research Students (only awarded to three full-time research postgraduate students in Hong Kong annually) and the HKU Research Postgraduate Student Innovation Award.
Howard's current research at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, supported by a C W Maplethorpe Postdoctoral Fellowship for Pharmaceutical Research and Education under the academic sponsorship of Dr Sally Yunsun Kim, aims to develop an inhaled extracellular vesicle (EV)-based therapeutic platform to harness EVs' potential in treating respiratory diseases.
