Biography
Holger Stritzel studied political science, international relations and security studies in Germany and Aberystwyth before completing a PhD in International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science under the supervision of Barry Buzan. Before joining King’s College in 2014, he was a Lecturer in International Relations and Programme Director for International Security Studies at the University of St Andrews.

International theory, foreign policy and critical security studies with an empirical focus on Germany, Europe and transatlantic affairs
Dr Stritzel’s research interests currently focus on transatlantic relations, German-American relations and transatlantic networks. He has also published on securitization theory, the concept of translation and critical security studies.

Dr Stritzel welcomes applications for PhD topics related to any of his research interests.

The European Foreign Policy group looks at both EU as well as state foreign policies within Europe and their interconnections.

Centre for German Transnational Relations
The centre examines Germany's changing transnational role in the economic, political and cultural spheres. We study how the recent rise of Germany to a position as a 'reluctant hegemon' shapes European economies as well as the world economy.
