Biography
Inês Dias is a Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London, supported by a Postdoc.mobility fellowship awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Dr. Dias has a multidisciplinary background spanning biomedical engineering and neuroscience. She earned her BSc in Biomedical Engineering from NOVA University Lisbon and her MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Twente. During her PhD in Neuroscience at ETH Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), she developed and validated a noninvasive mouse closed-loop auditory stimulation (mCLAS) system that delivers phase-targeted auditory stimuli during sleep in real-time, which she applied in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease models.
At King’s, Dr. Dias leads TILES (Temporal Interference for Localised Event-triggered Sleep Stimulation), a closed-loop neuromodulation system targeting hippocampal and thalamic activity during sleep by integrating real-time EEG with adaptive temporal interference stimulation. Her project aims to enhance memory consolidation in healthy volunteers and suppress epileptiform activity in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy patients, advancing personalised noninvasive interventions for neurological conditions marked by sleep disturbances.
Dr. Dias is a member of several scientific societies including the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) and the World Sleep Society. Since 2024, she serves in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee (EDIC) of ESRS.
