
Biography
Ishu Kataria is a public health expert specializing in noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), cancer prevention, and adolescent health. She is a Senior Public Health Researcher at RTI International and has recently served as a Visiting Scientist at IARC, working on research, policy, and program implementation, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. She has led impactful initiatives, including an analysis of National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) for the Lancet Commission on Women, Power, and Cancer, identifying gender-based barriers to cancer care. She advises Cancer Research UK on international cancer prevention strategies and serves as a Board Member for the NCD Alliance, advocating for global partnerships to address NCDs.
She has a keen interest in implementation science and is currently collaborating with institutions like King’s College London and WHO IARC to improve cancer outcomes in resource-limited settings. Her work on HPV vaccination in India has helped document barriers and shape policies for vaccine adoption. Additionally, Dr. Kataria is actively involved in supporting youth leadership and advocacy, through non-profits such as Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network and advising WHO’s Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs and WHO Youth Council on meaningful youth engagement. She has various publications to her credit and has published in renowned peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology, and BMJ.
