Biography
Jana Maria Liechti is a PhD candidate in Forensic Chemistry at King’s College London, where she also completed an MRes in Forensic Science. She is part of the Forensic Traces team led by Dr Matteo Gallidabino, contributing to research at the forefront of trace evidence interpretation.
Before joining King’s, Jana earned a BSc in Forensic Science from the University of Greenwich and completed a research internship at the Forensic Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. Her project focused on microtraces, specifically exploring the potential of hair fixative residues to establish connections between victims and perpetrators through footwear evidence.
Her doctoral research investigates novel approaches regarding the analysis and interpretation of gunshot residue (GSR), with a particular emphasis on the organic fraction (OGSR). Alongside this work, she has co-authored two peer-reviewed publications and actively contributes to collaborative forensic research across multiple domains.
