Biography

Dr Janet Adede Carboo is a Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London.

Dr Carboo completed her PhD research on the role of vitamin D in preventing infections and inflammation in undernourished children under five in South Africa. Her study contributed valuable insights into the links between nutrition, immune function and child health.

Her current research focuses on maternal and child nutrition and health, with particular interest in how micronutrient status and supplementation during pregnancy influence developmental and health outcomes of offspring. She is especially interested in exploring the interrelationships between iron absorption, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acid status and inflammation among pregnant women living with obesity, and how these interactions affect birth outcomes.

Janet's research has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications.
