Janique Waghorn is a Lecturer in Pharmacy Education at King’s College London and a registered pharmacist with a PhD in Pharmacy. Her work brings together clinical practice, research and education, with a particular focus on preparing future pharmacists for complex, prescribing-ready and person-centred care.

Janique specialises in clinical decision-making, experiential learning, consultation skills, clinical empathy, cultural competency and inclusive education. She has played a significant role in developing practice-based learning across the MPharm programme and now leads the 60-credit final-year Clinical Decision-Making module, integrating therapeutics, prescribing, clinical judgement, law and ethics, cultural awareness and patient-centred decision-making. She also contributes to clinical teaching and assessment, admissions, student support and the development of colleagues across the programme.

Her PhD research examined the underlying processes involved in pharmacists’ clinical judgement and anticoagulation initiation decisions, and she draws on this research to inform curriculum and assessment design. Janique is particularly interested in how clinical decision-making is shaped not only by scientific evidence, but also by the individual patient, their circumstances and the wider social and cultural context of healthcare.

Her work in equality, diversity and inclusion and cultural competency was recognised with the Championing an Inclusive, Fair and Diverse Faculty Award at the 2026 Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine Staff Awards.
