Biography

Jason Grant-Rowles is an NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre PhD Student in the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

He joined King’s College London as a student in February 2025. Prior to this, he has been an associate at King’s working with the Mental Health Implementation Network and the RECOLLECT study. He has been a lived experience researcher, practitioner and advisor for the past 10 years working to improve outcomes for others within the mental health system.

In 2024, Jason completed the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative for North Thames Mental Health for All Career Development Fellowship programme, based at University College London. He has worked in the NHS for five years within Early Intervention Services and Community Mental Health Teams in London and Sussex.

He worked on a research study with the Synergi Collaborative Centre based at the University of Manchester exploring the inequalities within severe mental illness.

He was also a Community Mental Health Partner for the Department for Work and Pensions supporting job centres across South London to improve support for people with mental health conditions.

Prior to working in mental health, Jason holds qualifications in Criminology from University of Glasgow, Broadcast Journalism from City University London, and Media and Communication from Goldsmiths, University of London.
