Biography
Dr Jason Moran is Inkfish Senior Research Scientist in Physical Activity within the EMBRACE Programme at King’s College London. His research focuses on the design, evaluation and implementation of exercise interventions to improve health, with particular interests in how people adapt to physical activity and resistance training across the life course. Within EMBRACE, he leads the development of physical activity interventions aimed at preventing and managing gestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and perinatal mental health conditions.
Jason’s background combines professional sport, strength and conditioning and applied performance science with extensive experience in intervention design, evidence synthesis and research methodology. His work spans laboratory studies through to pragmatic clinical trials and implementation research, with an emphasis on developing scalable exercise interventions that can be translated into real-world practice.
Jason has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, attracting over 7,000 citations and an h-index of 49. His research has been supported by organisations including the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Economic and Social Research Council and professional sporting organisations. He serves as Section Editor for Sports Sciences for Health and the Journal of Sport & Exercise Science and sits on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Sports Science and Football Studies.
His current research aims to establish exercise as a precision medicine intervention by integrating physiology, digital health and wearable technologies to develop personalised, evidence-based approaches that improve maternal and population health.
