Biography
Jenny has worked within the midwifery department of the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, since January 2020.
As well as being a cohort lead and teaching across the pre-registration midwifery curriculum, Jenny leads the optional module for both student midwives and student nurses, which explores Arts and Humanities in Healthcare Practice.
Jenny has a keen interest in the history of midwifery and historical childbirth practices in the UK, including rites, folklore and spirituality surrounding pregnancy, birth and the transition to motherhood.
She also spends time exploring the culture of maternity services, and the relationships between, and amongst, midwives and obstetricians, including how these affect the experience of birthing people and their families. This led to her co-authoring the #saynotobullyinginmidwifery report published in 2023 and speaking at various conferences and festivals on this topic.
