ARUK project kicks off
Dr Aakruti Kaikini joined the Malik lab in May 2022. The project is funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK, will run for 3 years and involves studying mitochondria in the post-mortem brain

Study Abroad PhD student from Brazil joins the Malik lab
In November 2022, PhD student Jessica Ellen Barbosa de Freitas Limafrom Department of Genetics, Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo – USP; Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil joined the Malik lab. Jessica will be working on understanding whether mtDNA damage is involved in the mechanisms that lead to increased risk of dementia in patients with diabetes.
