Due to restrictions on travel and public events as a result of Covid-19, this year’s implementation science research conference is being held as a fully virtual conference.

Now in its third year, the 2020 conference will explore the theme: ‘Implementation science for health and social care: Maximising relevance for practice and policy’.

The virtual conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, clinicians, practitioners and service users from around the world.

Together we will share the best ways to implement evidence-based health and social care research within services and systems to improve health and care outcomes.

We are keen to showcase implementation research relevant to the Covid-19 pandemic – for example, work that has supported long-term changes in practice or public health policy.

Virtual conference format
The virtual conference will feature plenary lectures from leading international researchers. Please find more information here.

Confirmed speakers include:

Jessica Read, deputy chief midwifery officer, NHS England, who has extensive experience over a 30- year career of implementing organisational change and service improvement

Dave Taylor from The Patients Association, an expert in implementing digital health technologies.

This year’s virtual format will include oral and poster presentations organised under specialist themes, meet the experts sessions, roundtable discussions, Q&A sessions and online networking.

The conference is being organised by the Centre for Implementation Science at King’s College London. It is supported by the NIHR ARC South London, a research organisation working to improve health and care services, the UK Implementation Society, and BMC.

Call for abstracts:

We welcome submissions for oral or poster presentations. The deadline for submitting an abstract has now been extended from Wednesday 22 April 2020 to Wednesday 29^th April 2020. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Implementation Science journal. The top-rated oral and poster presentations will receive BMC-sponsored awards.
