Joel joined Kings College London in June 2026 as a Research Assistant in the Addictions Department. He is currently working on the SUPPORT-Trial (Substance Dependence Prospective Outcome Recovery Trial), with Professor John Marsden. He will support the randomized control trial through conducting assessments with participants, data collection and maintenance of study documentation.

He previously worked as a Research Assistant at the North London Foundation NHS Trust as a member of the Research & Development Team. One of the few teams under the wider NOCLOR Research Division which provides research delivery & support to universities across the United Kingdom. His research background stems from mental health, working on studies such as PPIP2; a quasi cross sectional observational study investigating autoimmune disease in first episode psychosis patients with University of Oxford & the ACER study, a longitudinal study assessing the clinical and cost effectiveness of mental health rehabilitation services in the United Kingdom with UCL.

Joel also has experience working in clinical community mental health teams, working as a care-coordinator/researcher in the North London Foundation NHS Trust and managing client data through service evaluations. He has BSc in Psychology from Coventry University and a MSc in Cultural Psychology and Psychiatry from Queen Mary University London.
