Biography

Juan Pablo is a physiotherapist and researcher with a strong foundation in physical activity, public health, and behavioural interventions. He began his career in Colombia, where he co-founded a physical activity programme focused on early childhood development and supported research with the IDEAL Foundation, working on initiatives related to disability and community health.

He holds an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Public Health from the University of Bristol, where his research explored the relationship between active transport and hypertension. Following this, he joined the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge, contributing to the Fenland 3 study through clinical data collection and research protocol implementation.

Juan Pablo is currently based at the Cicely Saunders Institute at King’s College London, where he supports the SELF-BREATHE trial—a digital self-management intervention for individuals living with chronic breathlessness. He’s especially interested in how research can support fairer access to healthcare, using both digital innovations and local programmes to improve people's health and wellbeing.
