Biography
Junru Shen is a PhD student in the Department of Geography. She is researching the ecological impacts of dams and approaches for successful river restoration. Her current interests include phytoecology, terrestrial ecosystems, and freshwater ecosystems. She earned her MSc degree in Environmental Science and Technology at City University of Hong Kong. She has worked as a consultant on projects of river restoration and rehabilitation and the design of constructed wetlands.
Research
Thesis title: 'Hydropeaking effects on river environment in regulated rivers'
Junru researches hydrological responses and habitat changes to the operation of hydroelectric dams. Research methods include plant community surveys, field sampling surveys, remote sensing, mathematical statistics, and modelling analysis.
