After graduating from The University of Edinburgh, Katheirne began her career in local government. There she managed projects related to waste and recycling, climate change and social housing. After seeing first-hand the impact of sustainability on public services she decided to undertake a masters in Sustainability and Management at the University of Bath.

Following a move to London and working for the London Borough of Harrow she took up the role of Senior Sustainability Engagement Officer at King's where she engages students, staff, and external stakeholders in the university’s sustainability work. She leads the Staff Sustainability Champions Programme, and runs projects embedding sustainability practices across University campuses.
