Biography

Kay Thomas has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon at GSTT for 16 years and is half time as Deputy Medical Director with a specific remit around Surgery across the Trust.

As a surgeon and clinical manager at GSTT she offers insight into the clinical processes and decision making in delivering care. With regard to research, she has established an Internationally renowned Rare Disease Service, has a higher degree and peer reviewed publications. She has held an Honorary academic post at King's College London and supervised King's medical student Quality Improvement projects presented at International meetings. Her experience of overseas work is; elective in Vanuatu which had no endoscopic surgical facilities, teaching/ training theatre and surgical staff in Ethiopia, writing QI module of the Royal College of Surgeon Overseas Education on Surgical Safety document.
