Kevin Fernandez-Mills is a Lecturer within the Department of Adult Nursing and a recipient of a two-year NIHR Predoctoral Award within the Methodologies Research Division at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care, King’s College London.

He currently leads the Level 6 module Working with and Motivating Others and teaches across a range of pre-registration and post-qualification modules, including dissertation supervision. 

He is also the Faculty Lead for Widening Participation, leading initiatives such as K+ and King’s Plus to support students from underrepresented backgrounds and is a member of the Faculty EDI Committee.

A registered nurse with a specialist background in respiratory nursing, Kevin’s academic interests include respiratory care, health inequalities and inclusive practice. His developing research focuses on respiratory symptoms and psychological wellbeing among people living with COPD. His methodological interests include co-design, ethnography and qualitative research. Kevin is also a member of the Research and Education Committee of the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists, contributing to national work on respiratory education, workforce development and service transformation. 

His contributions to nursing education and professional development have been recognised through the Royal College of Nursing's Making a Difference Award in 2021 and as a finalist for University Educator of the Year at the Student Nursing Times Awards in 2024.
