Biography

Laura Gilmore is a Lecturer in Nursing Education. She gained her registered nurse (child) qualification in 2001 after completing an undergraduate Diploma and began working in general paediatrics. She completed a BSc (Hons) in 2005 with the RCN Institute and an MSc in Advancing Health Care Practice with the Open University in 2013.  She has placed a strong focus on leadership in ward areas throughout her career and undertook the NHS Leadership Academy Frontline Leadership course. In 2019 Laura completed a PGCert in Clinical Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Her area of clinical speciality is general paediatrics, with a special interest in respiratory nursing and nursing the acutely unwell child. Areas of educational interest include simulation and Laura is the simulation lead for the Department of Child and Family Health.
